Recruitment Policy and Procedure
The first stage in our recruitment process is our staff pre-registration procedure under which every candidate must produce the following documents/items before attending an interview.
General requirements
Completed application form
Nationality passport – pages with photograph and condition of stay will be photocopied and kept.
(If a non-UK resident) original evidence of Permission to work in the UK.
An authentic UK National Insurance Number
Names and addresses of two managers or senior personnel from your most recent employers who we can approach for professional references.
Original proof of address document to be photocopied and retained in your file. From at least two of the items listed below
o Drivers licence
o Marriage certificate
o Credit Card statement
o Mortgage or Insurance statement
o Bank statement
o Utility bill
Certificates of appropriate training and qualifications including
o
Basic life support (CPR)
o Moving and handling
Four passport size photographs
Recognised evidence of proficiency in English (if trained abroad)
Immunisation/Vaccination certificates for:
o HepB
o Tetanus
o BCG Scar test
o Rubella
o Varicella
Original copy of the most recent enhanced disclosure. Star Nursing carries out disclosure checks.
Details of next of kin, together with an emergency contact telephone number
For every candidate for Registered Nurse registration must produce
NMC/UKCC PIN card a copy is kept on staff file
Information as to whether a nurse is suspended from an organization or UKCC/NMC.
A copy of certificates of qualification and evidence of training is kept on the staff file.
Details of indemnity insurance held
Midwives mandatory training requirements
Resuscitation of the new born
Interpretation of Cardiocotocograph traces
Registered mental Nurse mandatory training requirement
Control and restraint and handling violence and aggression
Every candidate for Health Care Assistant registration must produce:
Satisfactory interview responses to demonstrate their competence to undertake basic patient-care observations and otherwise assist qualified staff
Must have a minimum of 3 months hospital experience and or NVQ in Health and social care level 1,2 or 3.
